QUETTA, April 25: Hundreds of schoolchildren on Friday took out a peace procession led by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousaf.

The procession, organized by Solar Human Rights Foundation, began march from Assembly Chowk and culminated at the Chief Minister’s House, after passing through the main Zarghoon Road.

The participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with anti-war and pro-peace slogans, including “We Want Peace”, “No to War” and “Struggle for Peace”.

Speaking to the participants, Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousaf said maintaining of law and order was necessary for the real development as no society could progress without brotherhood, unity and peaceful atmosphere. Therefore, he said, the government was giving priority to the law and order to uplift the province.

Pakistan, he claimed, had become a prestigious country in the comity of nations owing to its policies and efforts made for peace in the region.

Jam Yousaf said protection of the life and property of the masses was the responsibility of the government that was taking concrete steps in this regard.

The chief minister said students were future of the country, and they must known the importance of law and order to play a role in maintaining the peace.

MPA Rahila Durrani, Solar Human Rights Foundation President Nisar Ahmed and a representative of traders, Jumma Khan, also spoke to the participants.
