KARACHI, April 25: Consul General of the Russian Federation, Vladimir P. Mekhayov, on Friday called on Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar, and exchanged views on different matters of bilateral interest.

The chief minister informed the Russian consul general about the law and order situation in the province and the environment for investment, and said that there were great investment opportunities in tourism and industrial sectors in the province.

The consul general said that the Pakistan Steel Mills and various other projects were products of Pak-Russian friendship.

He said the Russian Federation would extend cooperation to Pakistan in education, culture and economic sectors, so that both the countries could reap the fruits of development and prosperity by cooperating in various sectors.

He said Russian products were being supplied on comparatively cheap rates to Pakistan. The chief minister informed the consul general about the measures being taken in education and health sectors in the province. DELEGATIONS: The chief minister also met different delegations and discussed various issues.

Former Sindh governor and retired chief justice Sindh High Court, Abdul Qadir Shaikh, held a brief meeting with the chief minister.

Ex-minister Ghulam Qadir Malkani, provincial minister Haji Usman Malkani, MPAs Syed Noor Muhammad Shah and Sultan Ahmed Khawar also called on the minister and apprised him of the problems facing their constituencies.

The chief minister assured them that the problems of their constituencies would be resolved.

Member Sindh Assembly Abid Jatoi, former member National Assembly Shaukat Hussain Shah also called on the chief minister.—PPI
