LAHORE, April 24: The chief minister has said a plan will be implemented to improve the standard of medical education, foreign training and local training of doctors and allied staff and examination system of medical colleges in the province.
Speaking after a briefing at the University of Health Sciences on Thursday, Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi announced a grant of Rs20 million for the university.
UHS board of governors chairman Prof Dr Mahmood Chaudhry briefed him about the aims and objectives of the university. Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed, CM’s adviser on health Dr Javed Asghar, health secretary Hasan Wasim Afzal and UHS vice-chancellor Prof Dr Malik Husain Mubashir also attended the briefing.
The chief minister directed the health department to facilitate the university to make it a centre of excellence.
Prof Chaudhry said the government was undertaking significant initiatives to enhance efficiency of health institutions.
