SIALKOT, April 24: A local court bailed out the former Hajipura SHO for allegedly torturing to death a notorious proclaimed offender in police custody.

Deceased PO Saleem alias Seema Langra’s mother Surraya Bibi, wife Shamim Bibi and his uncle appeared before court and recorded their statements in which they described Saleem’s death as accidental.

Earlier, Kotwali police had registered a case against SI Shafqat Mehmood Othi for torturing to death PO Saleem alias Seema Langra in police custody.

Taking serious note of the incident, IGP Syed Masood Shah had suspended SI Shafqat Othi besides ordering the Sialkot police to register a case against him.

SUSPENDED: Sialkot DPO Amjad Javaid Saleemi has suspended Bambanwala SHO Zafar Iqbal Dogar and Badiana SHO Arif Khan for their failure to control the crimes.

The DPO has appointed SI Zulfiqar Chattha as Bambanwala SHO and SI Ejaz Ahmad as Badiana SHO with immediate effect. — Correspondent
