KHAIRPUR, April 23: The Nara Thal area remained disconnected on Wednesday from other parts of the country after a boat bridge late Tuesday night collapsed at the Nara Canal near Tajal Sharif area.
The people of this area are suffering as there is no other bridge or route to connect the area.
Villagers insisted that the bridge had collapsed because of the non-compliance of the ban on passage of heavy traffic over the bridge.
A delegation of villagers from the Nara taluka on Wednesday visited the Khairpur press club and apprised journalists about the situation in this regard.
They demanded of the authorities to repair the bridge.
BAR ASSOCIATION: Pir Syed Bachal Shah was elected unopposed as the president of the district Bar association, Khairpur, on Wednesday.
Mr Shah has won the seat for the seventh time.
Elections on rest of the seats of DBA would be held on April 26.
MAN KILLED: One person, 45-year-old Koro, was killed and another person, Naimatullah Phulpoto, was injured on Monday after five armed men opened fire in Bazai Phulpoto village near here.
The motive behind the incident is said to be an old enmity.
The injured was later admitted to a local hospital while a case had been registered with the Babarloi police against five accused, including Khadim Hussain, Akram, Wahid Bakhsh and Sharif Phulpoto.
DEMO: Under the aegis of the Sindh National Front (SNF), a procession was taken out here on Monday to protest against the US occupation of Iraq.
SNF senior vice-president Allah Warayo Soomro led the procession that started from the Maryam Chowk on the National Highway.
Protesters staged a demonstration outside the local press club after marching through the main roads here.
