Jamia Binoria scholar buried

KARACHI, Oct 7 Maulana Mohammad Amin, a teacher of Jamia Binoria Al Almia, who was shot dead by unidentified attackers on Tuesday, was laid to rest after Zohar prayer on the premises of Jamia Binoria on Thursday.

The killing of the 50-year-old teacher generated anger among his friends, followers and students of the Jamia.

Some of the religious parties announced to stage demonstration to protest against the murder.

The city remained tense as the funeral prayer for the Maulana was offered after Zohar at the Jamia Binoria mosque in Site area.

Thousands of madressah students and Ulema attended the funeral prayer, which was led by Mufti Mohammad Naim.

Contingents of police and Rangers were deployed to avoid any untoward incident, while on the intervention of high-ups in the government, the mourners also moved back from their earlier announcement to hold the funeral prayers on M.A. Jinnah Road and stage a sit-in till the arrest of the killers of the Maulana sahib.

Maulana Amin was buried in the presence of mourners, including thousands of his students.

Tension prevailed in parts of SITE area, Shershah, Baldia Town, Nagan Chowrangi, Nipa Chowrangi, Gulshan Chowrangi, Orangi Town, Sohrab Goth, Gulistan-i-Johar, Landhi, F.B. Area, Keamri and Korangi.
