HYDERABAD, April 19: The members of the Sindh Agriculture University syndicate have deplored the poor law and order situation and deteriorating standard of education at the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Agriculture College, Dokri.
In a joint communication addressed to the vice-chancellor of the university on Friday, meritorious professor Dr Rajab Ali Memon, Prof Amir Ali Qadir, Prof (Dr) Umed Ali Buriro, Suresh Kumar Wadhwani, Riyast Ali Kubhar and Mujahid Hussain Leghari said the administration had failed to maintain law and order at the college campus.
They called upon the vice-chancellor to place the matter, along with the report of the college principal, before the syndicate for discussion and necessary action.
They said the college had failed to promote agriculture education at under-graduate level and research for which it was established.
The syndicate members regretted that admissions at the college had dropped by 75 per cent. The strength of students had been reduced to 200 while the college could accommodate 500 students. The college administration had failed to attract students from Balochistan, they further said.
They said no research programme had been started at the college.
They said the college, despite these lapses, continued to get non-development grant which had increased the college deficit to Rs5 million.
The syndicate members also expressed concern over adverse law and order situation at the college.
They said the college principal, chief security officer and the director of the campus administration had failed to resolve the issue and the vice-chancellor had remained indifferent.
Meanwhile, activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation (JSSF), Sindh Agriculture University unit, staged a protest demonstration at the campus against the principal of the Dokri college.
Speaking at the rally, JSSF leaders Abdul Zahir Tunio and Shahzad Abbasi demanded the principal’s removal.
