GILGIT The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has notified official results of 21 constituencies out of 23 seats for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly held on Nov 12.

According to a notification issued here on Sunday, those candidates who were declared winners in Gilgit district are Syed Raziuddin Rizvi (independent) from LA-1, Gilgit-I; Didar Ali (independent) from LA-2, Gilgit-II; Mohammad Ali Akhtar (PPP) from LA-4, Gilgit-IV; Mirza Hussain (PML-Q) from LA-5, Gilgit-V and Wazir Baig (PPP) from LA-6, Gilgit-VI.

Skardu district

Mehdi Shah (PPP) from LA-7, Skardu-I; Nisar Hussain (PPP) from LA-8, Skardu-II; Wazir Shakil Ahmed (PPP) from LA-9, Skardu-III; Wazir Hassan (PPP) from LA-10, Skardu-IV; Mohammad Ali Rizvi (PPP) from LA-11, Skardu-V and Raja Azam Khan (MQM) from LA-12 Skardu-VI were declared winners.

Astor district

Abdul Hamid (independent) from LA-13, Astor-I; Mohammad Naseer (PPP) from LA-14, Astore-II were notified as successful candidates.

Diamer district

Bashir Ahmed (PML-Q) from LA-15 Diamer-I; Janbaz Khan (PML-N) from LA-16, Diamer-II and Gulbar Khan (JUI-F) from LA-18, Diamer-IV were named as winners.

Ghizer district

Dr Ali Madad Sher (PPP) from LA-20, Ghizer-I and Mohammad Ayub Shah (independent) from LA-21, Ghizer-III were declared successful.

Ghanche district

Mohammad Jaffar (PPP) from LA-22 Ghanche-I, Mufti Abdullah (PML-N) from LA-23, Ghanche-II and Mohammad Ismail (PPP) from LA-24, Ghanche-III were among the successful candidates.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that results of LA-3, Gilgit-III and LA-17, Diamer-III would be announced after re-polling in some polling stations. The re-polling in LA-3 would be held on Nov 18 while in LA-17 would be announced later.

The results show that the PPP got 12 seats, PML-N and PML-Q two each while the JUI and MQM won one seat each.

The PPP would announce its candidate for the first chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on Nov 16.
