LARKANA, April 18: Protesting over the killing of Advocate Ashraf Khan in the premises of the Sindh High Court in Karachi, the advocates boycotted court proceedings and held a general body meeting here on Friday.

Addressing the meeting, Ayaz Soomro, president, District Bar Association, and others said that it was because of a poor security system that an advocate was killed in the courtroom.

They demanded compensation for the heirs of the advocate and urged the government for making fool-proof security arrangements in future to avoid such incidents.

CONDOLENCE: The Democratic Lawyers Forum held a condolence meeting on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ammanullah Shaikh and Abdul Razzak Dero said that the law and order situation in the provinces continues to decay.

They urged the elected representatives to play their due role in improving the situation.

REMAND SOUGHT: Police produced two alleged killers — Rahib and Raza — in the court of the fourth judicial magistrate under tight security on Friday. Police sought seven days remand from the court.

They were arrested after the killing of five members of a family in Baqpaur a few days back.

ROBBED: Five unknown armed men sneaked into the house of a man, Ali Sher Shaikh, in Reshamgali on Friday.

They overpowered the inmates at gun point and stole Rs100,000 in cash and gold.

PROTEST: The ministerial staff of the local treasury office stopped working on Friday in protest against the crude behaviour of the additional accounts officer, Abdul Hamed Shaikh.
