HYDERABAD, April 18: The group leader of the Al-Khidmat Group, District Council Hyderabad, Rana Mehmood Ali Khan and members of the District Council, Saleem Khan, Dr Saifur Rehman, Abdur Rasheed Qureshi, Shahnaz Baqai and Sumera Akhlaq, have condemned the increase in bus fare between Hyderabad and Karachi from Rs80 to Rs100.

In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, they said that this increase in fare had been made by the transporters unilaterally, notwithstanding the fact that the prices of diesel were decreased on two occasions within a matter of 15 days.

They said the general public was already groaning under the weight of price hike and the people could not afford this unilateral increase in bus fares.

The members of the District Council also condemned the indifferent attitude of the Sindh government in this regard and demanded that the increase in bus fares between Hyderabad and Karachi and interior Sindh should be withdrawn immediately.

Meanwhile, Member National Assembly and president, JUP, Sindh, Dr Sahebzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair has also condemned the inordinate increase in bus fares despite the decrease in the price of diesel.

In a statement, he said it appeared as if no law was applicable to the transporters and the law of might is right was prevailing in Sindh.

He said this was a cruel joke with the poor people who were unable to arrange two square meals a day.

The MNA demanded of the Sindh government to take notice of the highhandedness of the transporters and ensure that the increase in bus fares was withdrawn without any further delay.
