Last pair helps HBL reach 489

KARACHI, Oct 10: A last wicket partnership of 70 between Sajid Shah and Danish Kaneria enabled Habib Bank reach a mammoth 489 against Allied Bank on the second day of the four-day Patron’s Trophy Grade-I clash at Sheikhupura Stadium Wednesday.

Sajid, who made an unbeaten 36 off 74 balls), and Test leg-spinner Kaneria (a career-best 42 off 45 balls in 56 minutes) came together after the ninth wicket had gone at 419, says a message here.

Allied Bank, however, made a decent reply by reaching 111 for two in their first innings at draw of stumps with Naved (22) and Ijaz Ahmed Jr (15) batting in the unbroken third stand worth 41 runs.

Earlier, Habib Bank’s overnight pair Hasan Raza (50) and Farhan Adil (24) went on to make 74 and 47 respectively while putting on 111 for the sixth wicket before both fell to Aamir Nazir. The former Test medium-pacer finished with four for 155 in 36 overs.
