RAWALPINDI, April 17: The Rawalpindi and Chakala cantonment boards have imposed a ban on construction of commercial buildings in residential areas.

The decision was taken to discourage increasing trend of constructing multi-storied commercial buildings in residential areas.

The authorities have ordered conducting of a survey against those builders who had converted residential buildings for commercial purposes.

An official of the cantonment told this agency that action would be taken against violation of approved building plans.

A drive would be launched in this connection.—PPI
