RAWALPINDI, April 17: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Thursday inaugurated Jaafer Express at Rawalpindi Railway Station.
The train will run between Rawalpindi and Quetta two times in a week. It will make its maiden journey on April 21 and reach its destination in 22 hours, some 10 hours less than the other trains normally do.
On the occasion, the prime minister announced that those passengers who would make their first journey to Quetta in the new train would be given free tickets.
The railways minister, Ghous Bakhsh Maher, said: “We are taking steps to run this train on daily basis, but it will take time till we acquire new coaches.”
The local administration had made tight security arrangements on the occasion.—PPI
