Fraud in hospital

GUJRANWALA, Dec 6: An embezzlement of Rs0.5 million was detected in the divisional headquarters hospital here.

The amount was drawn for the repairs of X-ray machines and other equipment besides purchase of certain live-saving drugs.

Sources told Dawn here on Thursday that a former medical superintendent of the DHQ and his associates were involved in the embezzlement.

They said that the inquiry committee, constituted by the health department high-ups on the demand of the Patients Welfare Association and other organizations, has yet to submit its report.—Correspondent
