LAHORE, April 16: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has planned training course for grooming of umpires for providing qualified officials.
“Realizing the need of having qualified umpires at grass roots level PCB will be having courses at seven different centres soon,” a spokesman of the PCB said on Wednesday.
He said National Umpiring Council will conduct theses useful activities. “A total of 405 candidates have been nominated by respective associations to attend the course.”.
The syllabus designed for these regional course will provide sufficient awareness to the participants about the laws of cricket, technique of cricket umpiring.
“These courses will help the participants to conduct local matches with confidence,” he said.
Following is the programme of the courses and the names of the course instructors:
April 21-23: Peshawar (Course instructors: Said Shah and Jahanzeb Ahmed); Lahore (Khizer Hayat and Azhar Hasan); Karachi (Feroz Butt) and Larkana (Mahboob Shah).
April 27-29: Abbottabad (Said Shah); Islamabad (Khizer Hayat and Talat Farooq) and Quetta (Mahboob Shah).—APP
