ISLAMABAD, July 6 The Margalla police have booked four personnel of the Kalar Kahar police for helping a suspected killer in his escape from a hospital in the capital city.

The case was registered in response to a complaint by the Kalar Kahar SHO against his subordinates and suspect's attendants.

Sources said the accused, MR, was arrested by the Kalar Kahar police for his alleged involvement in the murder of four persons over a land dispute.

The accused along with his accomplices had a gunfight with his rivals about a month ago in a village located in the precincts of Kalar Kahar police. The clash left four people dead and 11 others injured.

During the gunfight, MR also received a bullet wound to his face and his jaw was broken. He was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences guarded by four personnel - an assistant sub-inspector and three constables, and kept at Surgical II on bed 27.

Sources in the hospital said the attitude of the police guard was “friendly” towards the accused, who was usually not handcuffed or restrained with a chain. Besides, the personnel also allegedly gave the handcuff and lock's keys to his attendants.

The accused escaped early on Sunday when only one constable was guarding him. The constable claimed that he was in the toilet when MR fled.

Shortly after getting the information, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Chakwal and Kalar Kahar SHO arrived in Islamabad to investigate the matter. The SHO lodged a complaint with the Margalla police alleging that the police personnel and the attendants helped the accused in his escape.

The police registered a case and arrested two constables along with an attendant. Efforts are being made to trace and arrest the remaining two police officials and three attendants.
