Demo against insanitation

DADU, April 15: A large number of people including shopkeepers and Nazims held a demonstration in Khairpur Nathan Shah on Tuesday to protest against the Taluka municipal administration.

They were led by the chairman, Citizens Ittehad, Nabi Bux Shaikh, and the president, Cloth Merchants Association, Bakht Hussain Janwari.

They blocked the Indus Highway and burnt tyres to press their demands.

Addressing the demonstrators, Nabi Bukhsh Shaikh said that the gutters of Khairpur Nathan Shah town were overflowing and the water supply and sewerage system had collapsed.

They said the Taluka municipal administration, Khairpur Nathan Shah, was not paying attention to the problems of the citizens.

SUSPENDED: The Taluka Nazim, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Shakeel Ahmed Leghari, on Tuesday suspended 30 sanitary employees on charges of negligence and appointed 30 new employees on daily wages.

It was further learnt that the contract of sanitation work of Khairpur Nathan Shah town has been awarded to a local contractor for Rs150,000.
