NAWABSHAH, April 14: Bashir Khan Qureshi, chairman, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), has said that acute water shortage is destroying the economy of Sindh.
Addressing a JSQM council meeting on Saturday, he said that if the construction of the Thal canal was completed, all Sindhis would die of starvation and the economy of Sindh would also be destroyed.
He claimed that the JSQM had succeeded in bringing Urdu- and Sindhi-speaking people closer.
He said it was time that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement played its role as they were in power, and added that they should learn a lesson from the past. He announced that the JSQM would hold a protest demonstration against the construction of the Thal canal in May at Karachi.
