Shahid excels with bat and ball

KARACHI, Dec 5: An entertaining 82 runs by middle order batsman Shahid Hussain stole the limelight for Landhi Friends Wednesday, beating Mohammad Hussain Memorial by 38 runs in the Sixteenth Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan cricket tournament played at the Karachi Gymkhana ground on Wednesday.

Winning the toss and batting first, Landhi Friends lost their first five wickets rather cheaply. But Shahid Hussain scoring 82 runs studded with 10 boundaries along with two flowing sixes, and Haris Javed (46) giving able support from the other end pulled their team out of the woods, as Landhi Friends reached 169 for seven in their 25 overs.

Right-arm medium fast Arif claimed three for 25 and Fahad bowling Khan two for 17 shared the bowling honours. Set to get 170 for victory, Mohammad Hussain Memorial could only manage to reach 131 for six in their 25 allotted overs with Azhar Gul top scoring with 37 runs. Adeel Mahmood (34) and Aamir Iqbal (20) were also among the runs but to no avail.

Shahid Hussain also excelled with the willow grabbing two for 32 for the winners.
