GHALANAI, July 15 The Gorbaz tribal jirga handed over six militants, including two local Taliban commanders, to political administration here on Wednesday.
A jirga of Gorbaz tribe met with Assistant Political Agent Syed Ahmed Jan and Tehsildar Zabit Khan in headquarters Ghalanai and handed them over the six wanted militants.
However, the militants were later on freed after the jirga members submitted a surety bond.
The jirga also assured cooperation to the political administration in war against militancy. The jirga also decided that a peace committee of tribal volunteers would be set up to maintain law and order in the area.
Meanwhile, another jirga of elders of tehsil Haleemzai met with APA Syed Ahmed Jan and Tehsildar Miraj Khan. The jirga was consisted of Malak Moamber, Malak Mohammad Ali, Malak Behram, Malak Mokamil Shah, Malak Mir nawaz Khan and other tribal elders.
The political administration asked the jirga members to hand over three wanted militants -- Mohammad Nabi, Arabistan, and Murtaza alias Sangaray -- to it within two days. The jirga members were also asked to form peace committees in their respective areas. The jirga members extended cooperation to the political authorities in flushing out militants from their area.
