LAHORE, April 6 Islamabad High Court Chief Justice M. Bilal Khan says the allegations against him in the Nannu Goraya case were totally false and intended to damage his reputation and standing as a judge.

In his comments on the CDs and news clippings submitted before a Lahore High Court bench hearing a contempt petition moved against a media group, the judge observed that the publication was a crude and an abhorrent attempt to malign him and scandalise the superior judiciary when he was being considered for appointment as the chief justice.

Referring to the backdrop of the events in which the publication came into being, the judge observed that he was on the bench that handed down the judgment of disqualification of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif. Both of them hurled abuses at him during their public address at Gujranwala.

Zulfiqar Cheema was given the assignment of regional police officer of Gujranwala although he was not qualified to hold the office of RPO under the Police Order, 2002.

“The role of Zulfiqar Cheema is that of a henchman of Sharif Brothers and he was all out to pick up cudgels on their behalf.”

The judge said the journalist of a national daily had always emitted poison against the superior judiciary and every time got away with it.

Referring to the press clippings the judge observed that it did not indicate when Faiz Rasul alias Nannu Goraya was present in Dubai and to which night club he had accompanied him.

The judge had pointed out that he had visited Dubai only twice and was accompanied by members of his family every time. He was accompanied by his wife, daughter and daughter-in-law during the last visit and they had stayed together throughout the visit.

The statement of Nannu Goraya was that of an accused recorded by police when he was in their custody and who had been done to death in a so-called police encounter.

A bare look at the video footage of Goraya left no room for doubt that it had been extracted under extreme pressure.

Referring to Ashfaq Bajwa, the judge observed that he had given a lie to the entire story cooked up by him at the behest of his political masters.
