KHAIRPUR, April 12: The Khairpur District Council has condemned the Irsa decision to distribute water, meant for Kotri downstream areas, among Punjab and Sindh provinces.
The council members, speaking on a point of order raised by Nisar Bhambhro at its Saturday’s session, strongly opposed the decision.
The members termed Irsa decision a conspiracy against the Sindh province and, through a resolution, urged the federal government and Irsa to withdraw the decision.
It was also decided that Khairpur district government would move the Sindh government for further action in this regard.
A woman councillor, raising another of point of order, said that the assistant district officer, education, Thari Mirwah, Razia, was attacked and tortured by her staff in March.
She called on the members to demand an immediate action against the education staff. Her move was unanimously supported by the members of the council.
The issue of the Citizens’ Community Board schemes was also discussed in the session.
Some members presented 13 development schemes for approval.
A seven-member committee was formed to scrutinize the schemes.
DIES: Another injured of Friday’s accident, Noor Khatoon, has died in the Ranipur hospital.
In a head on collision between a car and motorcycle, a woman, Jamalan Ujjan, died on the spot and five other persons, including Ms Noor, were injured.
ACCIDENT: An old woman was killed and four other people were injured in a head on collision between a car and a motorcycle on the Ranipur-Gambat link road on Friday.
The woman killed could not be identified. The injured included Noor Khatoon, Bachal Khatoon, Ghulam Shabbir and motorcyclist Mukhtiar Ujjan.
All the injured were admitted to the Ranipur Civil Hospital.
