ISLAMABAD, April 12: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started an investigation into the assets of those Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials, who are allegedly involved in steel purchase and substandard pipelines cases, informed sources told Dawn.
The sources said senior officials involved in both cases had given an undertaking in their service books that they did not own a house in Islamabad.
They said NAB would investigate whether the accused had made assets through illegal means or not.
The NAB has also reopened steel purchase case in the CDA to investigate how the accused were acquitted of the charges, they added. The accused were acquitted on the directives of an official in defunct chief-executive secretariat.
In substandard pipelines case, a firm supplied substandard water supply pipes to the CDA, which were laid at G-6 and G-7 areas in connivance with CDA officials, the sources said.
The director-general (services), director of Khanpur Dam, and a few other officials were responsible for awarding the contract to Al Sadaat Pipes, they added.
