LAHORE, April 11: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Friday served a show-cause notice on both the president and secretary of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench bar association for inviting the chief justice of Pakistan to a meeting.
PBC vice-chairman Mian Abbas claimed that in a unanimously-adopted resolution last month, all the bar councils and associations had called for social boycott of the sitting chief justice of Pakistan and all those judges of the superior courts who would avail the three-year increase in the age of superannuation under the LFO.
Bar president Chaudhry Tariq and his secretary had violated the resolution by inviting the CJ to a bar gathering. They have been asked to give an explanation in writing as to why their PBC membership should not be cancelled for misconduct, he disclosed.
