Pension cases to be disposed of quickly

FAISALABAD, April 11: Arrangements have been made for the quick disposal of pension cases of those officials of Education and Health branches of ‘tehsil municipal administrations’ who became a part of the district government from July 1, 2002, during the devolution process.

DO (Finance) Javed Iqbal said the TMAs concerned would deposit the pension contribution of such officials for the period prior to July 1, 2002, in the pension fund account of the district government being maintained in the GPO so that it could accordingly credit the accounts of officials concerned now serving with it.

The detailed instructions in this regard have already been issued by the district government to all TMAs in the district.

The DO informed all such retiring officials to contact the DCO office’s accounts section and supply it with a copy of the deposit challan credited by the respective TMA in the district government’s account so that it could issue the PPO accordingly. In this way, he said their pension cases would be disposed of speedily and they could get the pension without unnecessary delay.

EDUCATION WEEK: ‘Education for all week’ will be observed to motivate the people throughout the district to get their girls from five to nine years of age admitted to schools.

The female members of all union councils will pay door-to-door pay visits for creating awareness among the people regarding the importance of female education.

The decision to this effect was taken here on Friday during a meeting of the District Core Group which was attended by MPA Khalida Mansoor, Chak Jhumra Tehsil Nazim Fawad Cheema and others.

EDO (Literary) Asif Tarar informed the meeting about the importance and utility of the ‘female education week’ launched by the Literacy Department.

He lauded the role of NGOs towards the female education particularly the services of Ujala centres in Jaranwala tehsil.

Zila Council member Mrs Sakina Chaudhry, who presided over the meeting, underlined the need for providing maximum facilities to the female folk in education, health and social work sectors.

MPA Khalida Mansoor said the government was taking every possible step for providing maximum facilities to females.

ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: The three-day anti-polio drive will start from April 15 in the Faisalabad district.

Over 1.83 million children under five years of age will be administered polio vaccine along with vitamin A drops by 2,359 teams of the Health Department.

This was disclosed here on Friday during a meeting of the district polio eradication committee with DCO Tahir Hussain in the chair. EDO (Health) Capt Dr Mukhtar Ali, EDO (Literacy) Asif Tarar, DO (Health) Dr Zahid Maalik, medical superintendents of Allied and DHQ hospitals, representatives of WHO, Auqaf, social welfare departments and others also attended the meeting.

Dr Zahid told the meeting that the district had been divided into 48 zones for the purpose which would be supervised by zonal supervisors.
