ISLAMABAD The Election Commission on Tuesday notified the names of all the 11 Senators returned unopposed from Sindh.

Those declared as elected uncontested include Babar Khan Ghauri and Abdul Haseeb Khan from MQM and Moula Baksh Chandio, Islamuddin Shaikh, Gul Muhammad, Syed Faisal Raza Abidi and Dr Khatu Mal from the PPP.

Mrs Shirala Malik (MQM) and Mrs Almas Parveen (PPP) have been elected unopposed on the two seats reserved for women.

The sitting Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik and Law Minister Farooq Naek have been elected on two seats reserved for technocrats and ulema.

The un-opposed election of all the 11 candidates from Sindh was a result of an understanding between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

These candidates will replace members whose term expires on March 11.
