LAHORE, April 10: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said the affairs of the University of Health Sciences are currently running on an ad hoc basis.

Talking to reporters after the 69th convocation of the Kinnaird College on Thursday, he said the appointment of the UHS vice-chancellor was a discretion from the Punjab Governor.

“The reporters should ask the governor that why he had approved the appointment of Prof Dr Mubashir Hasan as vice-chancellor without advertizing the post internationally and selecting a best person for the slot,” he suggested.

Answering a question about the issues in the health sector and the fate of the Mujaddid Mirza Commission report, he said the discussion on the report had almost completed.

He said all issues highlighted in the report had been given due consideration. He said the interest of poor patients would be looked after. In implementation, he said the Mujaddid Mirza Commission would be given a democratic look.

Answering another question about the reinstatement of three college teachers, he said the government was looking into their appeals on a case-to-case basis as they were sacked on different charges.

“The government will consider their cases sympathetically,” he added.
