HARIPUR, April 10: Two schoolteachers were sent to jail after the pre-arrest bail granted to them last month was cancelled by the district and sessions judge here on Thursday.
Accused Mohammad Saeed and Mohammad Waseem were nominated in an FIR registered under sections 337K and 337L of the PPC and they were granted bail before arrest by a judicial magistrate.
The accused taught at Government Primary School for Boys Kamilpur Hattar where they, according to the FIR, had subjected Mohammed Aamir, an 11-year-old student of class five, to torture for three days suspecting that he had stolen the muffler of Mr Waseem. Aamir’s mother had lodged the FIR.
Having undergone several rounds of corporal punishment, the FIR said, Aamir had attempted self-immolation on Feb 7 and was shifted to the Rawalpindi General hospital with 65 per cent burn injuries.
Aamir was discharged from the hospital for unknown reasons on March 31 and he died on April 3. The police later changed the sections and registered the case under sections 322, 109 and 34 of the PPC. The district and sessions judge, Siddique Khan Khattak, after hearing both sides announced cancellation of the pre-arrest bail and sent the accused behind bars.
