Sikhs arrive in Lahore

LAHORE, April 9: A delegation of 50 Sikh pilgrims arrived from the United Kingdom here Wednesday morning by a PIA flight to celebrate Baisakhi festival.

The delegation was received by the chief of the Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandak Committee, Sardar Sham Singh, and senior officers of the Evacuee Trust Property Board at the Allama Iqbal International Airport. The festival is scheduled to be held on April 14.

During 11-day stay in Pakistan, the pilgrims will also visit Eminabad, Gurdwara Panja Sahib at Hassanabdal, Gurdwara Janam-Asthan at Nankana Sahib, Sacha Sauda and other places.

World Sikh Federation President Sardar Manmohan Singh is leading the delegation, which includes prominent Sikh leaders, Mr and Mrs Sardar Otar Singh.

Talking to newsmen at the airport, Sardar Manmohan Singh appreciated the Pakistan government’s gesture to give a warm welcome to the pilgrims.—APP
