Pakistan inducts TPS 77 radars into the air force

KARACHI, April 7 (APP) The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has acquired TPS-77 radars from Lockheed Martin USA. This was announced in a press release by the Directorate of Media Affairs PAF Karachi on Monday.

The statement said that these radars incorporate state of the art technology and belong to the latest generation. TPS-77 radars are the only radars in the world which have the unique capability to provide valley coverage and long range detection capabilities. With the induction of these systems, Pakistan will have the capability to curb the drug traffickers unrestricted movement into the borders from neighbouring countries.

 

The induction ceremony was held on Monday at an air force base in Karachi. Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force was the chief guest at the ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by senior officials from the US government and Lockheed Martin.

 

During his address, the chief guest highlighted that the occasion marks yet another important milestone in PAFs modernization plan which would give a tremendous boost to PAFs existing Integrated Air Defence Network. He also stressed upon the air defence operators and the technical staff to excel in their professionalism and strive for making Pakistan Air Force second to none. He cited the long-term strategic relationship between Pakistan and United States Air Force and stressed for the continuation of support for Pakistan Air Force to further modernize its capabilities.
