SUKKUR, April 7: Anti-war protests were held in Sukkur, Ghotki, Kandhkot and other parts of interior Sindh on Monday against the US and its allies who were bombing Iraq.
The biggest rally was taken out under the aegis of the All Pakistan Trade Union Organization, which was led by its president, Maula Bukhsh Khaskheli.
Many unions including the Rickshaw Union and the Sweepers Union (of the Sukkur Municipal Corporation) held protest demonstrations which started from the Sukkur Press Club and stopped at the Clock Tower.
The protesters carrying placards and banners chanted slogans against Bush and Blair and burnt their effigies..
The leaders criticized the leadership of Muslim countries for not doing enough to support the Muslims of Iraq.
The speakers called upon the Muslim states to use oil as a weapon against the West and take appropriate steps including Jihad against the anti-Iraq forces.
LARKANA: Protesting over the US-UK war against Iraq, the Sindh National Front took out a procession here on Sunday.
The participants, carrying banners and placards, marched on the main roads of the city and converged outside the district council hall.
Meanwhile, central congress of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz(Z), held here on Sunday, also condemned the US-UK invasion of Iraq.
In a press statement issued here on Sunday, JSM(Z) deputy general-secretary Riaz Chandio said that the party meeting, presided over by Syed Zain Shah, observed that the war was a clear violation the UN charter and it had endangered world peace.
NAWABSHAH: A protest meeting was held on Sunday at Bandhi against the US-led invasion of Iraq.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahim Bux Jamali, chairman of the local chapter of the International Human Rights Commission, Pakistan, condemned the attack on Iraq.
