HYDERABAD, April 7: The Sindh National Council, at a meeting held here on Sunday, took strong exception to the remarks of Wapda chairman that the greater Thal canal project was a fait accompli and the canal will be constructed come what may.

The meeting observed that the remarks were tantamount to trampling on rights of the people of Sindh and utter disregard for the Sindh Assembly which had unanimously adopted a resolution against the canal project.

It said that the remarks had made it clear that there was no difference between the thinking of Wapda chairman and Punjab Water Council chief.

The meeting declared that the people of Sindh would never surrender their inherent right over waters of the River Indus.
