PESHAWAR: Transfers criticized

Published April 7, 2003

PESHAWAR, April 6: MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar of Chitral has alleged that the provincial bureaucracy is bent on failing the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government in the province.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said transfers and postings made by senior bureaucrats in the health and education departments had revealed their intentions against the MMA rule.

Mr Akbar said the bureaucracy was not following any orders of the chief minister and senior ministers on any issue, which he said was a conspiracy to topple the government.

He urged the government to induct the elected representatives in police safety commissions, instead of establishing a separate body for this purpose. The elected people could monitor the performance of police, he asserted.—Bureau
