Naseer new Hizb commander

SRINAGAR, April 3: Occupied Kashmir’s dominant group Hizbul Mujahideen on Thursday announced a replacement for their chief commander who was killed a day earlier by security forces.

“Ghazi Naseer-u-Din will be Hizb’s new chief commander of operations in Kashmir,” the group said in a statement issued in Srinagar.

The group did not provide any background information about the new leader who was appointed a day after Ghulam Hassan Khan, also known as Saif-ul-Islam, was killed in a shoot-out between Mujahideen and Indian troops in Srinagar.

Hizb’s command council, led by commander Syed Salahudin, met in Azad Kashmir on Thursday and vowed to continue the armed struggle, the statement said.—AFP
