DAMASCUS President Asif Ali Zardari arrived here Friday on a two-day official visit to Syria to offer condolence to the Syrian President on the death of his brother.

The President was received at the airport by Syrian Minister for Presidential Affairs, Mansour Azzam and Pakistans Ambassador to Syria Nawabzada Aminuddin Khan Raisani.

During the visit, which is his first to Syria after assuming his office, President Zardari will meet Syrian President Bashar al Assad to condole the demise of his brother Majd al Assad, who passed away on December 12 last year.

He will convey the feelings of sympathy and solidarity of the people of Pakistan to the bereaved family and the people of Syria.

The two presidents will exchange views on ways and means to diversify and further strengthen existing cordial relations between the two brotherly countries and discuss global and regional cooperation in comprehensive manner. -APP
