KASUR, April 2: Scores of students of the local government commercial college blocked traffic for an hour on the main Ferozepur Road to protest manhandling of their two fellows by a wagon crew here on Wednesday.
Reports said second year students, Mukhtar Ahmad and Tanveer Ahmad, were making for their college by a wagon (LOK-5361), whose conductor Rasheed Ahmad demanded fare from them. The students gave him half the fare, and on his insistence flashed their concession cards issued by the college. However, the wagon crew exchanged harsh words with the students and beat them. They fled after a few minutes.
Reacting to it, at least 45 students of the college thronged the Ferozepur Road near Baba Kamal Chishti’s shrine. They chanted slogans against the crew, demanding the transport authorities to take action against them.
They dispersed when city circle SDPO Zaheer Babar Bajwa reached there, and assured them that the wagon crew would be arrested.
ABDUCTED: Six armed men on Wednesday abducted a woman and took away cash and gold ornaments at Dharian village (chak 20), Pattoki.
Reports said Rafiq and his five accomplices stormed into Allah Ditta’s house in his absence, abducted his wife and escaped with Rs35,000 in cash and five tolas of jewellery.
