LAHORE, April 2: The PPP has expressed its concern over the US policy of bypassing the United Nations before launching attacks on Iraq.
Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, PPP leader Munir Ahmad Khan said the party also had reservations about the use of pretext of pre-emptive defence without the UN Security Council sanction.
He said the people of Pakistan were emotionally attached to Iraq as it was the site of some of the most sacred places. “They believe that the UN weapons inspectors should have been given more time to disarm Iraq.”
He said the issue of Saddam Hussein being a dictator had little appeal for the people in Pakistan as the West continues to support Gen Pervez Musharraf.
