LARKANA, March 31: The Larkana District Council in a resolution in its meeting on Monday condemned the US-led war imposed on Iraq and demanded to halt it.

Nazeer Ahmed Bughio, the convener of the district council, chaired the meeting.

The council suspending all business allowed Ghulam Rasool Noonari, a member from Dokri, to table the resolution.

Taking the rostrum, Badruddin Abbasi, son of Maulana Jan Mohammed Abbasi, of the Jamaat-i-Islami, termed the attack on Iraq a nude aggression.

He said war could be between two countries having equal power but this is the worst kind of terrorism. “What was the need to attack Iraq which was cooperating with the UN’s inspectors? It is an invasion to capture the oil resources of Iraq.”

Ayub Ansari, Athar Abbas Solangi, Nasim Sahito, Khursheed Talat Khatyan and others supporting the resolution sought its amendment.

They said that it should be incorporated in the resolution that the lodging facilities provided to American planes in Pakistan should be discontinued.

Almost all members unanimously agreed to incorporate this piece in the actual resolution, which the prime mover also supported.

The speakers said that it was a deep-rooted conspiracy hatched against the Muslim civilization where the Jews play a vital role by pumping money into the war game.

They said that the whole exercise was being done only to further strengthen Israel and make it a champion who could save the interests of the US in the region.

The members flayed the role of certain Muslim countries for providing logistics support to American and British forces and called upon them to withdraw such support.

The role of the UN security council was severely criticized in the debate.

The speakers said that if it failed to restore peace again then its fate would not be different to that of the League of Nations.

Later, the resolution along with the amended portion was unanimously passed. Some members in the meeting raised slogans carrying placards.

All the members of the district council attending the meeting boycotted the rest of the proceedings by going out of the hall. They held a demonstration at the main gate of the hall.

Carrying placards, they chanted slogans against the war imposed on Iraq and the killing of innocent people there.

They criticized the rulers unclear stand over the issue.

DEMO HELD: The residents of Banguldero town held a protest demonstration on Sunday against the US for its nude aggression on Iraq.

Ashfaque Bhutto and Tarique Bhutto of the Shehri Ittehad led the protest.

The protesters burnt effigies of Geoge W. Bush and Tony Blair. They called for an early halt to the war.

MAN KILLED: A farmer, Mohammed Hassan Bhutto, was killed while trying to offer resistance to the thieves who had sneaked into his house in the Kot Bhutto village on Sunday night.
