PESHAWAR, March 31: Central leader of Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao MPA has called upon the United Nations Security Council, the Organization of Islamic Conference and the Arab League to use their influence for executing a ceasefire in Iraq war.

In a statement here on Monday, he said end to hostilities in Iraq was imperative for the global peace and the international community must play its role for this purpose.

He deplored that war was imposed on Iraq in contravention to the UN charter in order to fulfil nefarious designs. The PPP-S leader apprehended that the unpopular US-led war would have serious repercussions on the global peace and it would perpetuate the sufferings of the masses.

He expressed concern over the reports of humanitarian crisis in Iraq and asked the world community to provide relief assistance to the war-hit people.

He expressed complete solidarity with the Iraqi people and said that since the humanitarian crisis was in its ugly shape in the war-ridden country, the international community should take immediate steps to provide relief assistance to the war-hit people. —APP
