HYDERABAD, March 30: The district government is considering the establishment of a commission for child welfare.

This was said by the EDO, community development, Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi, at a meeting with a delegation of the National Commission for Child Welfare and Development (NCCWD), Islamabad, at his office here on Saturday.

The proposed commission will work for the welfare of street children and an end to child labour.

NCCWD consultant Dr Aysha Usman told the meeting the Commission was formulating a national child welfare plan which would be implemented through the ministry of education in collaboration with the UNICEF.

She said before finalizing the national plan, the commission would prepare plans of action at district and provincial levels. In Sindh, Hyderabad and Jacobabad districts had been selected for the pilot projects, she added.
