LAHORE, March 28: A man, who was shot at and wounded by robbers on Wednesday, died in the Mayo Hospital on Friday.

Rashid, 30, and his father Ashraf, 50, had sustained bullet wounds when four robbers opened fire on them in Younus Park, Gujjarpura. Ashraf died the same day and one of the robbers, Zahid, who was given a thrashing by the residents of the area, had died on Thursday.

The family and relatives took Rashid’s body from the mortuary and put it in the middle of the main Gujjarpura road to protest against the rise in crimes.

The protesters chanted slogans against the police and burnt tyres. The traffic remained blocked for about one and a half hour. They alleged the police did nothing even after the death of two people and demanded of the government to take action against the police officials concerned.

They dispersed on assurance of the senior police officers that the culprits would be nabbed soon.

MURDER: A man was clubbed to death over a money dispute in Begum Kot, Shahdara, on Friday.

The police said Sadiq, 25, purchased a wagon in partnership with a friend, Irfan. Both evolved differences and had clashed twice during the last some months.

Irfan allegedly tried to steal the wagon but Sadiq reportedly caught him red-handed some weeks ago and gave him a good thrashing.

Irfan along with three unidentified men attacked Sadiq on Friday and allegedly clubbed him to death.

The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.

A case was registered with no arrest.

GUN GOES OFF: A teenage girl died reportedly when a gun went off accidentally in Muhallah Sethiaan in Tibbi City on Friday.

The police said Naveed was fiddling with his father Bilal’s gun when it went off. His sister Aysha, 15, sustained a bullet wound. She was taken to the Mayo Hospital where she died.

The body was returned to the family without an autopsy.

ACCIDENT: A teenage girl died while her four family members sustained injuries in an accident at Malipura bus stop on Friday.

The police said Fayaz Ahmad, his wife Badar and their children Faiza, Sufian and Imran were waiting for a conveyance when a bus passing by them lost control and hit them.

The injured people were rushed to the Mayo Hospital. Faiza, 15, died soon after arrival. Doctors told the police that the condition of both the children was critical.

BURNT: A man succumbed to burns he sustained two days ago in the Mayo Hospital on Friday.

The police said Yasin, 40, was making team in his house in Shafiqabad when his clothes caught fire.

His body was returned to the family without autopsy.

DIED: A woman, who had been brought by an unidentified man to the Services Hospital two days ago, died on Friday.

Identified through her belongings as Nasim, she remained unconscious and apparently had no injury, the police said and sent the body to the city mortuary for autopsy.
