HYDERABAD, Dec 2: The senior superintendent of police, Hyderabad, Moazzam Jah, assured elected Nazims that the district police would fully cooperate with them in resolving people’s problems at their doorsteps.

He was talking to about 15 Nazims of various union councils of Hyderabad who called on him at his office on Saturday.

He said the very purpose of the district governments was to redress the grievances of the common man through the elected representatives of the people. He expressed hope that they would come up to the expectations of the government and the masses. Besides, he hoped that they would also extend full cooperation to the police in controlling crime.

The Nazims appreciated the change in the attitude of the police during the last three months, and added that this would go a long way in restoring the confidence of the people in the police force.

They said that the elected representatives were cooperating with the police in pinpointing the centres of crime, and added that it was due to this cooperation that the police had succeeded in busting mini-cinema houses in Phuleli Paretabad.

The SSP said that he was issuing orders to all the SHOs to fully cooperate with the Nazims in providing justice to the people.

The Nazims complained that due to the proliferation of video games and billiard in various localities the education of children was being adversely affected. They elucidated that instead of going to schools they wasted their time on these games.

In the presence of the Nazims, the SSP issued orders on the wireless set to all the SHOS to ensure that all game shops remained closed from sunrise to 3pm and after 11pm.

The Nazims also pointed out that some unscrupulous persons under the patronage of influential people were still running narcotics dens in some areas.

The SSP said that complete elimination of narcotics dens was on the top of his priorities, and added that some police officers who had shown negligence regarding it had already been awarded severe punishments.
