HYDERABAD, March 25: Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority chairman Abdul Haq has said area water boards (AWBs) are autonomous and have been vested with powers to resolve problems of growers.

Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the Ghotki Canal Area Water Board and various growers’ organizations here on Tuesday, Mr Haq said the growers’ organizations would be imparted proper training.

He said the Ghotki Area Water Board would be reactivated and it would operate with the active participation of growers.

He said following formation of organizations of the Nara Canal farmers, work to constitute similar organizations under the Ghotki Area Water Board would be accelerated. Development work would also be carried out with the help of the board.
