RAWALPINDI Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is likely to take decision on fielding its candidate for by-election in NA-55, Rawalpindi in a meeting to be chaired by President and Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari here on Saturday.

Sources said on Friday that the party was still undecided about fielding its candidate in NA-55.

However, they said, nowadays president Asif Zardari was on Sindh and Balochistan visit. If he returns on Saturday he would hold meeting with local PPP leaders and decide future course.

The seat of National Assembly was lying vacant after the resignation of Haji Pervaiz Khan, former MNA belonging to Pakistan Muslim Leaque-Nawaz (PML-N).

Mr Khan was forced to resign after his nephew was arrested red-handed for acting as proxy for him in intermediate examination.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed of Pakistan Awami League, Malik Shakeel Awan of PML-N, Dr Mohammad Kamal of Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Ijaz Khan Jazi and Abdul Sattar of Awami Party Pakistan have been nominated as candidates for the by-election.

Sources said that the PPP local leaders were of the view that the party had its own identity and hundreds of its voters and supporters were feeling that it was right time to win the elections therefore it should contest the coming elections.
