KARACHI: NOC of housing project cancelled
KARACHI, March 23: The Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) has cancelled the NOCs (no-objection certificates) for the sale and advertisement of a housing project ‘A-One Homes’, situated in Surjani Town’s Sector 3 (sub-sector A), KDA Scheme- 41.
A spokesman for the KBCA said that upon receiving a large number of complaints from the people who had booked their houses in the project, the builders were asked by the Authority to address the allottees’ grievances. However, the builders failed to do the needful.
The KBCA has cautioned the general public not to book property in the project.
The citizens have also been advised not to involve in any transaction with the builders of another housing project ‘Garden City Phase-III’, Taiser Town (Scheme-45) as the builders M/s Merry Land Builders and Developers had failed to obtain revised NOC for the sale and advertisement of the project.
The KBCA has specifically pointed out that the Garden City Phase-III project is spread over 67.22 acres in Taiser Town (against survey Nos. 40, 41, 138, 139, 141 and 155, Deh Nagan, Scheme-45. It has informed the general public that its builders were directed to get the NOC revised for the sale and advertisement of the properties. However, it added, the KBCA had received no response from them as yet.
Though the KBCA warning is meant for those who have not yet booked any property in the two projects, fate of the deals already struck with the builder firms is yet to be known.
DIRECTIVES: Chief Secretary K. B. Rind has directed the concerned officials to take practical measures against the builders who were creating problems for allottees, adds APP.
He issued the directives during his meeting with a delegation of citizens who lodged complaints with him against various builders here on Sunday.
Mr Rind expressed his displeasure over the builders’ attitude and sympathized with the aggrieved people.
The delegation apprised him of problems being caused to the allottees in the possession of the properties. They pointed out that most of the builders resort to deny possession as per the deal and demand extra money on various pretexts, most commonly development charges.
Mr Rind told the delegation that he had already received similar complaints from other people in the past. He said that Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) and other concerned departments of the city government had been asked to look into the allottees’ grievances and address them.
He revealed that the concerned officials had also been asked to prepare a report in this regard so that action against the defaulting and defiant builders could be taken.
