LAHORE, March 21: The Lahore High Court on Friday released 63 illegally confined kiln workers, including 28 women, and directed them to approach the authorities concerned for registration of a case against their master’s illegalities and recovery of dues.

The petition filed by Rahmat Khan through Advocate Mohammed Aslam submitted that Mohammed Pervaiz along with three others of Bano Kot Puli, Sheikhupura Road, Gujranwala, detained the workers at his kiln. They were also beaten and tied up with ropes and chains.

He submitted that the detenues had been the employees of the kiln owner since long, and were also not being paid their wages for the last 16 months. He prayed the court to issue orders for their production through a bailiff and release them.—APP
