Doctors protest

LANDI KOTAL, March 19: Electricity load-shedding and water shortage at the agency headquarters hospital for the last one and a half year compelled doctors and paramedical staff to take to streets on Monday.

The protesters took out a procession from the hospital premises and converged at Hospital Chowk on the Landi Kotal- Peshawar road.

They said that though MNA Allama Noorul Haq during a visit had promised that a direct electricity supply line would be provided to the hospital from Landi Kotal grid station and a water tanker would regularly provide potable water to the hospital, the promises were not fulfilled.

Speaking to the protesters, Dr Ziaul Haq complained that the hospital was facing water shortage and power outages for quite a long time, but the local administration and health department had failed to address the problems.—Correspondent
