LAHORE, March 17: As the ruling coalition and opposition parties have locked horns on the status of the Legal Framework Order, National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Husain said on Monday that he was yet to give a ruling on the subject.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, he said he was not aware of the outcome of talks between the treasury and the opposition on the issue which has paralysed the National Assembly.

The government insists that the amendments made by Gen Musharraf during the three years of his rule were part of the Constitution, a contention rejected by opposition parties.

A session of the lower house of parliament was due to begin in Islamabad on Tuesday, with little hope that the opposition would be flexible on the subject.

However, Speaker Amir Husain expressed the hope that the session would be orderly.
