LAHORE, March 13: Railway authorities will soon introduce computerized ticketing for five trains as a summary in this regard has been sent to the ministry for formal approval.
The trains include Karachi Express and Shalimar Express running on the Lahore-Karachi route and three rail-cars operating on the Lahore-Rawalpindi route.
Computerized tickets are already available for Karakoram Express running on Lahore-Karachi route and a non-stop train running on Lahore-Faisalabad section.
According to railway officials, the new computerized tickets will also carry Urdu text on its one side to facilitate the passengers who cannot read English.
To check rail dacoity incidents and sale of tickets in black market, identity card number of the purchaser will also be incorporated in the ticket, they say.
Computerized ticketing will also be started from Multan, Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Sukkur as offices for the purpose are being established there.
Meanwhile, a computerized ticketing counter is also being established at the Lahore railway station, while another is already working at the Railway Headquarters on Empress Road.— Staff Reporter
