ISLAMABAD, March 11: The government’s Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved a Rs191.438 million development project of University of Balochistan, Quetta.

The scheme was submitted to the CDWP by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The meeting of CDWP was held recently at the Planning Commission.

The project will be completed in 36 months period.

The main objective of the project is to strengthen, upgrade, expand and modernize the teaching and research facilities and to accommodate additional students at various levels at the university.

The project aims at increasing the participation rate, provide better education environment and ensure healthy atmosphere for the students. The project would in future be capable in providing better trained manpower for the development of the province of Balochistan as well as the country.

The project also aims to ensure conducive environment with extended academic related facilities both for the students as well as the academicians to cope with the requirement of the day. It is to note that the University of Balochistan was lacking such facilities since long.

The University of Balochistan is the only institution of higher education in the whole province. It imparts education/research for MA/MSc, MPhil and PhD studies. With the extension of infrastructure and facilities/services about 9,000 students, about 1,300 employees would be benefited.
